Cal D

Cal D aka Callum Davey is a 28yr old, UK based DJ and producer of underground house music.  Often tweaking and experimenting with different styles, Cal D typically offers up the deeper shade of the ever expanding house spectrum - often a touch dark but still retaining club floor accessibility.  Originally from New Zealand, Cal D cut his teeth on the NZ club circuit, as well as performing mainstage at a number of outdoor festivals such as Alpine Unity and The Gathering - two renowned and respected events which hosted such names as Digweed, Timo Maas, Jodi Wisternoff, Greg Churchill and Austin Leeds.    After completing his studies, he spent time living in Melbourne where he formed the Tech House duo 'Lord Street Heroes ' with friend and production partner ‘Katu’.   The Lord Street Heroes honed their production skills in their St Kilda studio, and went on to sign tracks to Flavah US and Mother Tongue Recordings, while their 2002 bootleg of Supreme Beings of Leisure 'Strange Love Addiction' was a favourite among many Australian and NZ Prog House Djs.  Now living in London,  Cal runs his own independent label Short Skirt Recordings, along with promoting and DJing at a bi-monthly party called 'BiteChewSwallow' held in dodgy haunts around Old Street.  In addition to releasing material on Short Skirt Recordings, 2007 will see tracks released on a number of different labels including ‘Prowler’ a dark progressive house record with nasty and inimitably deep bassline, on Method Recordings.
